The Sussex Savonnerie is a handmade dog soap company, based in Sussex, England. The soaps are made in small batches with organic ingredients, vegan, zero-waste, botanical and all packaging is made of recyclable/recycled materials.
Stéphanie came to me wanting a logo to use on her packaging labels and social media. She defined her target audience as dog owners, mostly women over 20, people who favour organic, natural products and are environmentally conscious. She did not want to feature a dog on her logo, as she may branch out to make soap for humans too, in the long-term.
I created a very decorative logo to help catch the eyes of potential customers. The flower is loosely inspired from the round-headed rampion, a wild flower that is also known as "Pride of Sussex". The colours were picked to contrast with the cardboard boxes used for packaging the soaps, and the slab serif font (Azote) ties in well with the hand-crafted, traditional nature of Stéphanie's business.
